Title: Discover Ceredigion’s Prehistory and recent excavations at Talsarn with Professor Martin Bates.

Portalis is an exciting, cross-border project that seeks to bring together local communities in the Welsh and Irish counties of Ceredigion, Wexford and Waterford. Our extensive range of events and activities, including archaeological excavations, museum exhibitions and curated walks, are aimed at encouraging residents like yourself to become more engaged in understanding their local history and helping to shape the future of their local communities.

To help achieve these aims, we are keen to create a new and sustainable cross-border network made up of project participants from both sides of the Irish Sea. We anticipate the cross-border network will explore opportunities for securing funding for local initiatives, developing new tourism and heritage initiatives as well as sharing best-practice.

We would be delighted if you could attend the first of our networking events which includes a talk from Professor Martin Bates.

This work is part of a €1.95 million project called Portalis, a cross-border, transdisciplinary pilot project that explores the earliest connections between Ireland and Wales. The funding for the project comes from the European Regional Development Fund, through the Ireland Wales Cooperation programme. The project is led by Waterford Institute of Technology and is supported by the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, Ceredigion County Council and Waterford Chamber of Trade.

TeitlDarganfyddwch Gynhanes Ceredigion a’r gwaith cloddio diweddar yn Nhalsarn, gyda’r Athro Martin Bates.

Mae Portalis yn brosiect cyffrous, trawsffiniol sy’n ceisio dod â chymunedau lleol at ei gilydd, yn siroedd Ceredigion, Wexford a Waterford yng Nghymru ac Iwerddon. Mae ein hystod eang o ddigwyddiadau a gweithgareddau, gan gynnwys cloddiadau archeolegol, arddangosfeydd amgueddfa a theithiau cerdded dan arweiniad, wedi’u hanelu at annog trigolion fel chi i gymryd mwy o ran yn y broses o ddeall eu hanes lleol a helpu i lunio dyfodol eu cymunedau lleol.

Er mwyn helpu i gyflawni’r nodau hyn, rydym yn awyddus i greu rhwydwaith trawsffiniol newydd a chynaliadwy sy’n cynnwys cyfranogwyr y prosiect o’r ddwy ochr i Fôr Iwerddon. Rydym yn rhagweld y bydd y rhwydwaith trawsffiniol hwn yn archwilio cyfleoedd i sicrhau cyllid ar gyfer mentrau lleol, datblygu mentrau twristiaeth a threftadaeth newydd, yn ogystal â rhannu arfer orau.

Byddem wrth ein bodd pe gallech fynychu’r cyntaf o’n digwyddiadau rhwydweithio, sy’n cynnwys sgwrs gan yr Athro Martin Bates.

Mae’r gwaith hwn yn rhan o brosiect €1.95 miliwn o’r enw Portalis, sef prosiect peilot traws-ddisgyblaethol a thrawsffiniol sy’n archwilio’r cysylltiadau cynharaf rhwng Iwerddon a Chymru. Daw’r cyllid ar gyfer y prosiect gan Gronfa Datblygu Rhanbarthol Ewrop trwy Raglen Gydweithredu Iwerddon Cymru. Arweinir y prosiect gan Sefydliad Technoleg Waterford, ac fe’i cefnogir gan Brifysgol Cymru y Drindod Dewi Sant, Cyngor Sir Ceredigion a Siambr Fasnach Waterford.
